Echelon’s family of Smart Electrical Meters provides a multitude of features and options. Most of these are additionally highly configurable (e.g. TOU and Self-Read calendars, Load Profiles, Events and Alarms, display settings, etc.). In order to successfully set up (“provision”), deploy and manage NES Meters, one has to know about the available features, configuration settings, and tools available for provisioning; and the workflow associated with the provisioning process. Course Objectives

During this course you will

  • learn basic and detailed information about Echelon’s family of Smart Electrical Meters
  • become familiar with the available Hardware options (e.g. M-Bus support, Pulse Inputs, MEP etc.)
  • become familiar with the multitude of Meter Firmware features (e.g. TOU Calendars, scheduled Self-Reads, Load Profiling, Alarms and Events etc.)
  • learn how to install the Echelon Provisioning Tool and an Optical Probe
  • use  the Provisioning Tool and Optical Probe to create  Meter Provisioning Programs to set and change configuration values in your meter, including e.g.
    • choosing the information elements shown on the meter display
    • setting up TOU calendars and scheduled reads
    • enable remote load (dis-)connects
    • set up maximum current values
    • set up conditions for triggering events and alarms
  • learn how to retrieve the current state of a meter and perform live maintenance tasks using the Provisioning Tool in the field in case of communication problems
