1       Introduction

This document describes Update 1 for SmartServer 2.0 Service Release 2 (SR2) and Service Pack 2 (SP2).  SmartServer 2.0 SR2 is shipped with SmartServer 2.0 Energy Managers, and you can apply SmartServer 2.0 SP2 to update previous SmartServer 2.0 installations to the same version of the SmartServer software that is included with SmartServer 2.0 SR2.  Update 1 fixes a compatibility problem with Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.  Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 and Mozilla Firefox 3.0 or newer are still supported as well.  See Updating to SmartServer 2.0 SR2 or SP2 Update 1 instructions on installing the update and verifying that it has been installed, and Fixes for details on what is fixed in this release.

3       Release Identification

This document applies to Update 1 for SmartServer 2.0 with Service Release 2 or Service Pack 2 software (Release 4.04.119).  To verify that you have this release on your computer, follow one of the following procedures:

·       For Windows 7 and Windows Vista, click the Start button, type Programs and Features in the Search box, press ENTER to open Programs and Features, and then click Echelon i.LON SmartServer [Release] Software.  If the Version column is not displayed, right click the list header, select More, and then select Version to add the Version column. 

·       For Windows XP, open Add or Remove Programs in Windows Control Panel, and then click Echelon i.LON SmartServer [Release] Software.  Click the Click Here for Support Information link.

To determine which release of the SmartServer firmware you have installed on your SmartServer, see the Firmware Version property in the Setup ‑ System Info Web page as described in the SmartServer 2.0 User’s Guide in Chapter 3, Viewing System Information and Performance, or by typing show in a SmartServer console window.

You can determine if you have SmartServer 2.0 SR2 and SP2 Update 1 installed on a SmartServer by using an FTP client to examine the file dates on two files on the SmartServer.  The following table lists the two files, the SmartServer 2.0 SR2 file dates for each, and the Update 1 file dates for each.  Note: the Update 1 date is earlier than the SR2 date.

You can determine if you have SmartServer 2.0 SR2 and SP2 Update 1 installed in Echelon Enterprise Services (EES) by using Windows Explorer to examine the file dates on two files in EES, under your LonWorks directory (which is C:\LonWorks by default).  The following table lists the two files, the SmartServer 2.0 SR2 file dates for each, and the Update 1 file dates for each.

4       Updating to SmartServer 2.0 SR2 or SP2 Update 1

You can apply Update 1 to SmartServer 2.0 SR2, or to a SmartServer with SmartServer 2.0 SP2 installed.  Update 1 includes updates for the SmartServer firmware and for the Echelon Enterprise Services (EES).  This update will not work with any previous or future SmartServer releases.

To apply Update 1 to the SmartServer firmware, follow these steps:

1.     Extract all the files from the Update 1 zip archive.

2.     Open the SmartServer in an FTP client.

3.     Copy the web directory in the i_LON_Image_4_04_119_A_Update_1 directory to the root directory of the SmartServer.

To apply Update 1 to the SmartServer Echelon Enterprise Services (EES), follow these steps:

1.     Close any browser Windows that you have open on your computer.

2.     Extract all the files from the Update 1 zip archive.

3.     Copy the scripts directory in the EES_4_04_119_A_Update_1 directory to the LonWorks iLon\EnterpriseServices\Appserver\webapps\EES\AdminService\v4.0 directory on your computer.  The LonWorks directory is C:\LonWorks by default.

4.     If prompted by Windows to confirm overwriting existing file, click Yes.

5       Changes in SmartServer 2.0 SR2 and SP2 Update 1

Compatibility problems with Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 have been fixed.  (59850, 59983)
