1 Introduction

This file describes NodeBuilder 3.11 Patch 2. This patch updates the Nei32Nfi utility provided with the NodeBuilder software. This patch is required if you are programming CY7C53120L8 chips using a BP or HiLo programmer. 3 Release Identification

This patch applies to the NodeBuilder 3.11 Development Tool, which is created by applying NodeBuilder 3.1 Service Pack 1 to NodeBuilder 3.1. You can verify that you have the NodeBuilder 3.11 software by starting the NodeBuilder project manager, opening the Help menu, and then clicking About NodeBuilder. The About NodeBuilder dialog appears. This dialog displays the version number of your NodeBuilder software. For NodeBuilder 3.11 or NodeBuilder 3.1 with Service Pack 1, the version number is 3.11.xx, where xx is the build number of the software.

This patch includes an update to the Nei32Nfi utility. It does not change your NodeBuilder version number. In order to identify that this patch is installed, open up a Windows command prompt, navigate to the LonWorks Bin folder (c:\LonWorks\Bin by default) and type Nei32Nfi. The version number of the utility should be listed as 3.11.16.

4 Installing Patch 2

You can only install NodeBuilder 3.11 Patch 2 on a computer that already has NodeBuilder 3.1 Service Pack 1 installed. To install NodeBuilder 3.1 Service Pack 1, you must have NodeBuilder 3.1 installed. To apply NodeBuilder 3.1 Service Pack 1 to any NodeBuilder release prior to Release 3.1, you must first install a NodeBuilder 3.1 upgrade. NodeBuilder 3.11 Patch 1 is compatible with Patch 2, but is not required.

To install Service Pack 1 over NodeBuilder 3.1, follow these steps:

If you are running Windows XP or Windows 2000, log on with Administrator privilege.
Download the NodeBuilder310SP1.exe file to any directory.
Shut down all NodeBuilder applications that are running.
Run NodeBuilder310SP1.exe.

To install NodeBuilder 3.11 Patch 2, follow these steps:

Make a backup copy of the Nei32Nfi.exe file in your LonWorks^® Bin folder (c:\LonWorks\Bin by default).
Download the NodeBuilder311Patch2.exe file to your LonWorks directory and run it. This is c:\LonWorks by default, but you may have changed it. This will extract the Nei32Nfi.exe file and this ReadMe file to your LonWorks Bin folder.

5 Removing Patch 2

To remove NodeBuilder 3.11 Patch 2 and to return to the previous version of the Nei32Nfi utliity, replace the Nei32Nfi.exe file in your LonWorks Bin folder with your backup copy:

6 Changes in Patch 2

NodeBuilder Release 3.11 Patch 2 updates the Nei32Nfi utility that is part of your NodeBuilder software. The new version of the utility corrects an error in the previous version when generating NFI files for devices using the Cypress CY7C53120L8 Neuron Chip. For this chip, the new utility places the manufacturer ID and the major model number at addresses 0x2000 and 0x2006 respectively in the resulting NFI file. The previous version of the utility placed the manufacturer ID and the major model number respectively at the incorrect locations of 0x3000 and 0x3006.
