Neuron® 5000 and RS-485 Example Design

RS-485 Transceivers have been used in conjunction with a processor to implement an RS-485 network in a variety of control applications including Buildings Automation, POS network and terminals, Access Control, Industrial Process Control and Utility Meters. Doing so has placed the burden of implementing a control protocol onto the manufacturer with often less then optimal results. Echelon's Neuron 5000 Processor is an ideal processor for implementing a control network solution based on the LonWorks control protocol, an international standard known as ISO/IEC 14908.1. The LonWorks protocol is the most widely used open protocol for intelligent embedded control applications and designers can develop applications that are cost effective while offering high performance.
